Relation Supposing Books Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me

A graphic novel that asks us to consider what happens when we ditch the toxic relationships we crave to embrace the healthy ones we need.

Laura Dean, the most popular girl in high school, was Frederica Riley's dream girl: charming, confident, and SO cute. There's just one problem: Laura Dean is maybe not the greatest girlfriend.

Reeling from her latest break up, Freddy's best friend, Doodle, introduces her to the Seek-Her, a mysterious medium, who leaves Freddy some cryptic parting words: break up with her. But Laura Dean keeps coming back, and as their relationship spirals further out of her control, Freddy has to wonder if it's really Laura Dean that's the problem. Maybe it's Freddy, who is rapidly losing her friends, including Doodle, who needs her now more than ever.

Fortunately for Freddy, there are new friends, and the insight of advice columnists like Anna Vice to help her through being a teenager in love.

Write-Up Containing Books Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me
Freddy (Frederica) Riley has a girlfriend. Kind of. The problem is, Laura Dean keeps breaking up with her. And then reeling Freddy back in. Even Freddy can see that their relationship is not good. But she struggles to escape the magnetic Laura's pull. It's just not that easy to flip from attracted to repelled, even if you think you should. This was a sweet but sharp story about being young (17) and blinded by the glamour of dating the hottest girl in school. Laura is definitely cute and sexy,

This is a book Im nervous giving such a high rating because its controversial subjects can certainly be interpreted many ways but a handful of things stand out to me about why I loved reading this so much.First, the art was magnificent. Reading this felt like watching a movie because the panels focused on such specific shots and the transitions were lovely. Also, the use of color in this was so significant and overall, the art style was brilliant. Five stars for that alone.Second, I like that

Yes, yes, and yes to this YA graphic novel about a lesbian teen in love with the wrong girl. I'm normally ehhh about main characters who keep making the same wrong decision, but something about this pulled me in and didn't let go. It's a slice in time where the MC is stuck, but elements slowly come together to allow her to break free and move forward. Definitely give it a try if it looks interesting.

"The older I get, the less I feel like I can be judgy of people's lifestyle choices." pg. 123Freddy is a 17-year-old lesbian who is dating a gigantic asshole named Laura Dean. Laura Dean doesn't respect Freddy or care about her. She picks her up when she wants sex and leaves her when she's bored with her. She cheats on Freddy frequently, often in public, often when Freddy is in the same room. She just doesn't give a fuck. And Freddy keeps going back to her because... ... ... she's amazing in bed?

rep: half-East Asian lesbian mc, lesbian li, poc gay character, Black gay character, Black sapphic characters, lesbian charactertw: homophobia, cheating, unwanted pregnancy, abortionusing the word lesbian and allowing lesbians to be messy and make mistakes, and learn from those mistakes?? never thought i would see the day!the art is also incredibly beautiful

I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's beautiful and heartbreaking and infuriating and wonderful. I was flipping through my 2019 reads and realized I forgot to mark it down (I read it during the Reading Rush and honestly that whole week is kind of a blur...) but I loved this so much! Everyone needs to know! It's amazing!

Printz Honor 2020Committee loves Tamaki, but I thought this was far from perfect and not deserving of the honor in terms of the story telling.__________Wish this story spent as much time on developing characters and relationships as it did on being inclusive and woke. You have to make me understand what is so appealing about Laura Dean first, before I even start contemplating why a polyamorous relationship with her would be a good idea for the MC. Better than Kiss Number 8, but not significantly
