"The Tarnished Shooter" by Charles James is a stunning and captivating book.I have read my share of childhood stories (or memoirs of that kind) but this is quite unique with its honest style and very sensible, intelligent and down to earth approach.The family background, abuse and bullying that our fictional anti-hero suffers are never once used as an excuse for the wrong decisions and choices in his life but serve merely as an explanation and helpful illustration of the reality of such aThe book was an impulse buy. I thought the cover looked quite interesting and I do like a good story with a lot of action. I was utterly surprised to find myself glued the pages and unable to put the book down.The main character Frank is very complex, and a survivor of a bleak and abusive childhood. The plot was an eye opener for someone like me that has never been exposed to this type of abuse or life style. I was particularly sensitive to sections of the story that made my emotions run wild,
Frank Henry Barker fights against the odds as a youth, living with an abusive father, struggling in school, and hanging around with friends who are a bad influence. Amazing story! I love the way the main character develops around the story. It gonna hook you form the beginning to the end. A must-read!
