Commentary To Books After the End (After the End #1)
She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future.World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They've survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.
At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.
When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.
Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she's trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

Beneath me lies a city. It is not in ruins. It isnt decimated by war and poisoned by radiation. It is a thriving city with massive glass buildings glistening in the late-afternoon sun. This is not a postapocalyptic wasteland. Where am I? What is going on? Whoa. WHOA.I really liked this book---but do take my words with a grain of salt, this is a woman who actually LIKED The Village after all, but the premise of falsehood was revealed to us at the very beginning of the book. This book was soSo this book was unlike any book I've ever read. Now I don't want to bore people with my thoughts, but that's the whole purpose of reviewing. This book was surprisingly spiritual and philosophical, I know it's a science fiction and a lot of the stuff that happened is "impossible".I think most people believe or would like to believe that they are part of a higher or divine power, that there is something or someone out there looking out for us. That we aren't just beings alone randomly placed on
My Juneau and Miles:17-years old gifted girl hiding from aftermaths of nuclear war and determined to do anything to protect her clan, suddenly finds out that her whole life was a fabricated lie. A spoiled boy who is used to always geetting his way and now he wants to prove himself to his dad. Can these two fundamentally different people help each other to reach their goals?I liked that main protagonists were from completely different backgrounds. Once they were together (not in romantic kind of

A great story! Everything about the world Juneau believes in is basically a lie. Still, her powers are very much real as is her desire to find and rescue her kidnapped clan. Strong, smart, determined heroine. Juneau didn't have a whiny bone in her body, nor did this story suffer from lack of communication, which is a common complaint of mine with YA reads. She was upfront and honest with Miles.Miles was self-absorbed and spoiled when the story began, but I was happy to witness positive character
Mind you, this book came from the exact same author who wrote Die for Me, one of the most boring, cliched and uninspired books I've read. So you can imagine how hard to believe that is, given the fact that I had a ton of fun reading this one.It was all there: intriguing story that kept me wanting to find out more, great chemistry between the two main characters, and the characters themselves never made me wanna facepalm. Granted, I was pretty bugged by Miles for the first half of the book, since
Update 12/25/14 After the End was chosen as one of Badass Book Reviews favorite Young Adult/New Adult SciFi/Dystopia books of 2014. Read all about it here.Initial Thoughts: This was really good, about 4.5 stars with .5 stars deducted for ending too soon, lol. The story is told in alternating first person points of view of the main characters Juneau and Miles. Juneau lives in a small enclave near Denali, Alaska. Miles lives a privileged life in LA. At first, I wondered what the two could possibly
