The sexy, thrilling adventures continue in bestselling author Keri Arthur’s new Dark Angels series, starring half-werewolf/half-Aedh Risa Jones.Risa will go to any lengths to avenge her mother’s murder—even if it means making a pact with the most evil vampire she’s ever met. Lethal and powerful, Madeline Hunter is leader of the vampire council, and will put her resources behind finding the killer—for a price. The venerable vampire requires the assistance of Risa’s psychic powers. Quid pro quo.

A sequel series to the Riley Jenson series, this one is a little more serious. Risa JonesRileys pseudo-neicemight be more sensitive, but she isnt lacking in the balls-busting department. But more gripping is the sexy reaper, who watches her and protects her. Im anxious to learn his true motivation. This review applies to the first and second books in the series:Darkness UnboundDarkness RisingDarkness Rising by Keri ArthurThis is the second book in Keri Arthurs Dark Angels series. Once again Risa is ass deep in alligators. She makes a deal with the very scary head of the vampire council Madeline Hunter to find those responsible for her mothers death. Plus she has to find the gate keys and there are forces that want her to succeed and those that want her to fail and those that just seem to want her dead. This book is a fun, sexy, roller coaster ride. Now I have to wait almost a year
While the plot for Darkness Rising was interesting enough, it plodded along so slowly that I was sorely tempted to skip ahead to the end be done with it. Somehow, my willpower prevailed and i managed to read the whole damn thing but then I lost my patience towards the end and speed read the climax and what happened once things died down a little. There was very little development in the larger plot (that of the keys to hell)AS for the characters, I actually prefer the secondary characters to
This second installment of the series is marginally better than the first, but still nowhere near my love for the original series (for which this series is a spin-off). All of the same basic elements are there, so I feel like I should like it more than I do. I think it's a problem of foreshadowing that is as heavy handed as a hammer upside the head. There's no doubt about the intentions behind the secondary characters and yet the heroine is almost ridiculously obtuse. Yet despite those problems,
I found this second book very slow. It took me forever to finish it, and I only did it because I didn't want it to carry on into the new year. I have to say Risa was more interesting as a child than she is as an adult.
This books picks up where Darkness Unbound left off. Risa is still trapped between Hunter and her vampires, her dad and the Adeh, and Azriel and the Reapers. The book is action packed, but nothing really happens. There is some progress with the Keys, but they're still fish out of water. My problem is with the personal story. It is patently obvious to me that Lucien cannot be trusted and that Azriel and Risa are going to get together, but nothing has happened. Risa is ignoring her instincts where
Another great installment! This slow burn between Risa and Azriel is absolutely FASCINATING. Im in awe of this series. Why havnt i read this sooner?!
